Deep Dive into Dinacharya

New month, new intention, and we are diving deep into Dinacharya. So this week in my yoga intensives, we are talking about what Dinacharya is… “dina” translates to daily and “charya” translates to ritual or practice. So it’s what we do on a daily basis that is optimizing our health as much as we can.

One of my teachers, Dr. Vasant Lad, would say that, “the root cause of suffering is delusion.” We do Dinacharya so that we have time and space to become clear. And then what does “clear” look like for you? Some of it is just taking moments in our day to tune in to what our body is telling us, to where our mind is, and not getting so wrapped up in news and media. These practices can be so lovely. I love the Dinacharya that I’ve woven into my life. If you told me a couple years ago that I’d be doing even half of my morning routine, I would have been like, “that’s way too much!” But now, I love it! It’s fun. I don’t see it as a task or chore. For me, it’s different ways of setting my body up for the day and prepare my body for rest and sleep at night. It’s finding these times in my life where I can find a sense of calm, clarity, and compassion for myself.

I hosted a talk on Dinacharya this month, which was recorded. Sign up for my newsletter and you’ll get more information on how to access that.  One really beautiful practice to do each morning is to watch the sun rise or sun-gaze. If you’re able to get up with the sun, spend a couple minutes watching the sun come and seeing the rays of sun as they hit trees or mountains around you. It’s a great way to feel grounded and grateful for the day ahead of you.

Let me know what daily practices you love the most to find a sense of clarity and calm for your day.

Many well wishes
