Finding Clarity by Keeping Your Heart Open

Alright, so final week of February and weaving in our overall intention for the practice, which is “finding clarity.” This week I thought we would talk about finding clarity by keeping your heart open. Clarity is this inner state of knowing and appreciating that you have the answers of what is right for you in your health and healing, in your job, in your relationships. But tapping into that state where you can actually hear what that clarity is. So, one element is to keep your heart open. To assume the best intentions of those around you. I think sometimes we can get so shielded and guarded because there are individuals that have different opinions than us. Or there are ideas and concepts that just don’t feel good… they don’t feel right for us. And that’s ok. It’s good to know that. We can listen to that, listen to our body that is telling us “that doesn’t sound right” or “that doesn’t sound healthy, healing, helpful for me in my life.” That’s your body talking to you. So tapping into that is really important. That’s part of the yoga practice. Getting into that inner state of knowing and understanding.

When I think about keeping your heart open, I love backbends, I talk about them all the time in my classes. I love this space of keeping your heart and throat open. We talked last week about keeping your throat stimulated and open is tapping into your parasympathetic nervous system state. So you can allow yourself to activate the throat chakra. You can do that through humming, which we talked about last week. You can also do that by allowing our head to go back in a way that doesn’t aggressive and shocking. But in a way that you allow yourself to be really open in your throat and chest. It’s exposing. It’s not natural to feel like you can keep yourself open all the time. So, you can play with that.

One of the quotes I’m working with this week and you can see how it feels for you, but I absolutely love this.

“Practice seeing life as an infinite mystery rather than wishing it was different or easier”

Here is to hoping you can keep tapping into the infinite mystery or it all, listening to the deeper sense of knowing, finding your own clarity for yourself… in your life, at any given moment.

With love and deep gratitude
